2017 Woman of the Year Honoree
The Arthritis Foundation of Nebraska is honored to recognize Melissa Marvin as our 44th Woman of the Year.
They say an elephant never forgets. It’s fitting, then, that these noble giants hold a special significance for Melissa, because she herself is unforgettable.
In accomplishment, in friendship and in enthusiasm, Melissa has a truly unforgettable spirit. People who know her describe her as a force of nature with tremendous heart and unstoppable tenacity.
Over the years, Melissa has balanced significant professional accomplishments with work on the boards of the Nebraska Arts Council, Nebraska Cultural Endowment, Joslyn Art Museum, Nebraska Shakespeare, Girls Inc. and many others.
In addition, her efforts on behalf of the Lauritzen Gardens Antique and Garden Show, Omaha Symphony, Durham Museum and other community causes could fill volumes.
Yet, even with these elephant-size accomplishments, Melissa still points to her parents’ immense legacy of good works with hope that she can live up to their example. For this unforgettable reason and a million more, we are honored to name Melissa Marvin the Arthritis Foundation Woman of the Year.
