Some people’s star shines so brightly that their memory continues to inspire even when their light is taken from us.
That’s the kind of person Cindy Leiferman was.
This October, we had hoped to honor Cindy’s special spirit at the 40th annual Woman of the Year Gala. That event has been canceled ... but the celebration of Cindy’s life, service and impact goes on.
It’s appropriate to note that the theme of this year’s Gala celebration was to be simply, “Star.” Because that is what Cindy was to everyone who knew her. She shone like the sun in every life she touched. She inspired us. She ignited our enthusiasm. She brought us together. And she made us believe that, like her, we can make a difference.
In our community, Cindy’s volunteer efforts spanned a staggering array of organizations: the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Girls Inc., Make-A-Wish, Completely KIDS, the Child Saving Institute, the WCA, Habitat for Humanity, Lauritzen Gardens, the Nebraska Humane Society, and many, many others.
In every role, Cindy’s enthusiasm and get-it-done attitude not only benefited the organization she was serving, but earned her life-long friends and admirers.
To the very end, Cindy continued to inspire us with her courage and strength. There is simply no doubt that Cindy was, and still is, a star. And, this year, we’re so very honored to also name her as the 40th Arthritis Foundation Woman of the Year.
We hope you’ll join us and the early donors listed below in making sure that Cindy’s light is never forgotten.
Your gift in honor of Cindy will be put to work fighting the debilitating illness that afflicts more than 50 million Americans ... two-thirds of whom are under age 65 and more than a quarter million children!
Together we can work to put an end to the pain of millions. It’s a cause Cindy believed in and one you can feel good about supporting.
Please also join us in thanking the generous sponsors, early donors and the Gala Committee listed below. Their hard work honors Cindy’s memory, she would be extremely proud.
